Objective

To provide a home away from home for those who have no one to care and show love and affection and to those who need to live a quiet life in the evening of their life.

Construction of buildings

Initially the project was funded by the sales proceeds of a property donated by the late Rev. and Mrs. F. V. D. A. Jayasinghe after whom the project is named. The preparatory work of planning and supervision was directed by Rev. Sunil de Silva, then pastor of Hendala Baptist Church who worked tirelessly with committee to complete the first stage of which consists of five single rooms, toilets and bath rooms, dining room and kitchen and was declared open by the Late Rev. Dr. W. G. Wickramasinghe on 31st January 1993 then the president Sri Lanka Baptist Sangamaya. The second stage consisting of veranda, drawing room and four double rooms with attached toilets was initiated during the pastorate of Rev. George Lee was opened on 4th April 1995 by Rev. David Martin, director of Baptist Missionary Society.

Administration

The retirement home is managed by a Superintendent and a committee elected by the Hendala Baptist Church and governed as per the constitution adapted by the Sri Lanka Baptist Sangamaya.
